Customers have said the Phone Pocket holds up well under a light to medium rain. If you are hiking in a heavy rain we recommend you stow your phone in your pack or have a ziplock on hand to protect your phone inside the pocket.
This product is meant to offer quick and easy access with light protection while our Zipper Pocket is built to offer more protection from the elements.

Since my Backpacking Packs do not have hip belt pockets, I had been looking for a good strap pocket for my trail snacks that was adjustable enough for use with my daypacks.
I also wanted a shoulder strap mounted 700mm water bottle pocket since I can never reach the bottle from the side pockets of the backpack. I bought a set of each from CTUG. They are made well with good materials and are very adjustable. I like them so much I gave one set to my daughter which means I will be ordering another set.

I buy packs (mainly Osprey) without hip belt pockets since my arms hit the pockets when I am on the go. I have been looking for a suitable strap mounted pocket and water bottle holder for several years. I FINALLY found the Chicken Trampers products. I have bought 4 sets of large chest strap pockets and 0.7L water bottle holders to set up my day hiking and backpacks. They are functional, WELL made, using durable materials. The attention to design details is excellent (from a very seasoned engineer).

Love this addition, I chose to get the sealed seams since I’m using it for electronics. My battery back up fits in it as well as 2 phones. I’m under 20lbs with food and water, I can take 2 phones, lol. For me it’s about convenience and the weight is negligible, so worth it!

This is the 4th item I’ve bought from CTUG and all have been superbly designed and manufactured. The chest pocket has a great zipper, quality fabric, ultralight weight, and excellent attachment straps and hardware. The price is very reasonable, too. Can’t wait to use this on the Colorado Trail.

The Zipper Pocket is wonderful to put your phone/satellite messenger/snack bar/sunglasses. In a world where hip pockets aren't big enough to hold a phone, this is very valuable. Because the pouch is actually deep, the pocket can hold my phone that's 6.2". Quality is great. I've snapped it on my Gregory Octal pack and it stays put! I'm probably going to get one for every pack I own.

I have been looking for a water bottle sleeve and a strap pocket to fit my large phone with case (7" x 3.5"). The Chicken Tramper Zipper Pocket seemed to be the only thing that fit, so I ordered both items. I am VERY impressed with not only the quality of the materials but the quality workmanship as well. The finishing on the seams is first rate and the clips and sliders allow a great amount of adjustability. Thank you Chicken Tramper for great products and great customer service. I will be recommending your gear to others.
WHAT'S ON THE OTHER STRAP?
Check out some of our other shoulder strap accessories!

The upper attachment of the Phone Pocket is adjustable. The webbing is able to slide through the slider to secure the Pocket tightly to the shoulder strap.
The main "storm flap" of the Phone Pocket affords some protection from the elements while allowing for quick and easy access to your phone. If you prefer greater protection check out our Zipper Pockets!
The 4 way stretch of our Lycra Mesh pocket allows for multiple snack bars and even some sun glasses! You can also keep your Anker battery pack in the lycra while charging your phone on the go!
The secondary webbing closure on the Phone Pocket is a clever design that will leave the charging/headphone port accessible while still securing the phone inside of the Pocket.
The 1" Slider on the back panel is used to tighten or loosen the upper attachment in order to span the correct distance between attachment points.
The lower S clip can be moved up along the rear panel in order to lower the Phone Pocket on the shoulder strap. In this case you would let more slack out of the slider and have the Phone Pocket hang off the bottom of the strap.
The Siamese Clips we use are incredibly secure and easy to use. The Pocket will be attached to your shoulder strap for thousands of miles.

which should i buy?
When deciding between the Standard and Large size it's important to take the time to measure your own phone and case or look the dimensions up online. You will then compare these measurements to those listed. The Standard size fits average sized phones.
The Large Phone Pocket will fit most if not all phones with plenty of room to spare. It would be easy to fit both a phone and a battery pack inside of a large phone pocket or additional snack bars.
